I tried the first link you posted, and the program keeps stopping. I don't know what the hell I've done, but it gets nearly to the end, then gets hung up on the last few files.

I take it that's never happened with you?

Oh, and let me see if I have the process right for burning to CD...

1. Convert the files from .flac to .wav with TLH
2. Use audacity to convert from 24 to 16-bit

Is that about right?

Hmmm...I need to play around with TLH more. Can it convert from Flac to mp3?

i'm using an older version of lplex and i haven't had any issues using it ... i just burned a hi-res dvd to go thru the process, and one thing i had to do was decode the flacs to wav first, for some reason the program doesn't recognize the flacs, even though it should; but otherwise it worked perfectly; there are likely other more intuitive programs out there, with more bells and whistles, that will do the same thing, but i tend toward using non-commercial, non-corporate products

as for TLH converting from flac to mp3, yes it will do this for you, but i'm not sure about whether it will convert 24bit flac to .mp3, you might still have to downsample to 16bit
